Garden Room Revival

Shopping Park is located in Shenzhen’s bustling business district, adjacent to the impressive Ping An International Financial Center and COCO Park Shopping area. Once a central park, rapid urbanization led to disorganized food and beverage businesses in the area.

TOPOS spearheaded the transformation of Shopping Park, reimagining it as a vibrant public space. Organizational strategies focused on creating well-furnished outdoor rooms, lush gardens, and integrating commercial uses. Purpose-driven public spaces were designed alongside select restaurants and shops, unified by a cohesive garden network with diverse architectural features.

Most illegal expansions were removed, and the vacant space was transformed into unique garden rooms: the Arcade Garden, Banyan Tree Amphitheater, Traditional Cantonese Terraced Gallery, Green Shade Springs Garden, and the Flowering Sculpture Garden. Visitors can explore these spaces in a sequence, like opening gift boxes, featuring water, sculpture, and special plant arrangements.
