COCO Park Urban Renewal

Garden Room Revival

COCO Park is located in Shenzhen's central business district, adjacent to the Ping An Finance Centre—the tallest building in Shenzhen. Originally conceived as a central urban park, years of rapid growth and uncoordinated commercial expansion gradually fragmented the public realm and diminished its identity.

TOPOS led the transformation of the district, reimagining it as a vibrant network of outdoor garden rooms that reconnect people, commerce, and public life. The design introduced a series of purpose-driven public spaces, lush gardens, and carefully integrated commercial uses, all linked through a cohesive landscape framework.

Illegal additions and visual clutter were removed to reclaim valuable public space. In their place, a collection of distinctive garden destinations was created, including the Arcade Garden, Banyan Tree Amphitheater, Traditional Cantonese Terraced Gallery, Green Shade Springs Garden, and Flowering Sculpture Garden. Together, these spaces unfold as a sequence of immersive experiences, where water, sculpture, architecture, and planting create moments of discovery throughout the district.
